The Old Rectory.

I'm back!  And what a trip!

What I couldn't share with my lovely readers before I left is that the purpose of the trip was for a surprise birthday party for a friend of ours.  Instead of staying in actual London, a house was rented in the beautiful countryside of Chulmleigh, which is in Devon, a few hours south of the city.

We stayed at The Old Rectory, which is a 19th-century country home that sits on 20 acres of landscaped gardens and pastures.  To say it was quintessential English countryside is an understatement.

We were completely spoiled with beautiful weather, an amazing concierge who never uttered the word "no" and a chef who prepared a staggering amount of food for us each day.  The long weekend was spent relaxing with 5 other couples and their families, pool lounging, afternoon games of tennis on the grass courts and plenty of pitchers of Pimms.

Hope everyone had a great 4th!
