Art.

Last weekend, I was super excited to attend the 30-something birthday of my blogger (and real life!) friend, Melanie.  The theme?  Corks and Canvas, held at a local art studio and gallery, Artichokes.

Mel selected an abstract theme and after a few cocktails, we set to work.  We had an amazing teacher guiding us, Noelle Stoffel (who also happens to be a real life acquaintance as well since our kiddos go to school together.)

Here's how mine turned out.  It's currently doing the lean on our bookshelf (with some other masterpieces) until I can figure out a permanent home.

I'm rather impressed with myself!  It's really amazing that with a brush change or use of a fancy tool, the outcome of your piece changes.  Thanks to Noelle for helping me with that coral-colored "blob" in the middle, which is my favorite part.

After the painting, I wandered around the gallery and checked out Noelle's work.  I would like one of each please.

Noelle's work can be seen on her website, in person at Artichokes and also at Room 39 (delicious if you haven't been, btw.)
